Mrs Silverman,
The Indian origins of Roma people has by no mean been proven and is even belonging to stereotypes. Sanskrit traces in the Romani language is not a scientifical proof.
In English, you use many words with Latin or Greek origins. It doesn't make of Americans or Brits descendants of Greeks or Romans, or Dacians. We use also the Finnish word "sauna" for a specific area ("bastu", in Swedish), it doesn't make of us Finnish people. You also state that we don't know much about the migration of Roma people, while you should. I met two Manouches in my town telling me that they all got ancestors originating mainly from today Iran-Iraq. They also told me about the Sasanian Empire, when Zoroastrianism has become an official religion, but not forcing anyone to conversion. All became worse for Roma people at the rise of the Ottoman Empire.
