We have almost all heard that Roma, Gypsies, Tsigani, Sinti are all from India. But it turns out that this subject is very controversial.

There is indeed a "Cobra Gipsies" community in Rajasthan, living in the desert and self-sufficient. However, not being Hindus, they do not belong to any caste.

The vast majority of Gens du Voyage ("Travelers", generic term for all geo-ethnic groups in this community) have been generally monotheists for over 2,000 years.

Consciously or not, they share ancestral traditions with their distant cousins ​​of the Hebrew people. Notably :

- The priority given to respecting the elders of the family and the local community

- The distinction between Roma Gypsies, Tsigani and all those who are not Travellers. The "non Gypsies" are called Gadjo (reminiscent of the term Goy in the Jewish Community, when speaking of non Jews).

The original faith of the Travelers is pre-Zoroastrian (already oral) and the reminder of Zoroastrianism is very present in the Torah, in a subtle and almost imperceptible way for novices.

Fire is a sacred element and it can be assumed that the burning bush from which God speaks to Moses is a nod to Zoroastrianism. (Book of Exodus)

- La distinction entre Gitans, Roms, Tsiganes et tous ceux qui ne font pas partie des Gens du Voyage. Les "non Gitans" sont appelés Gadjo (ce qui rappelle le terme Goy dans la Communauté Juive, désignant les non Juifs).

La foi originelle des Gens du Voyage est pré-zoroastrienne (déjà orale) et le rappel du Zoroastrisme est très présent dans la Torah, de manière subtile et presque imperceptible pour les novices.

Le feu est un élément sacré et on peut supposer que le buisson ardent duquel Dieu s'adresse à Moïse est un clin d'oeil au Zoroastrisme. (Livre de l'Exode)
